While designed for the pipe-cots of Ocean racing boats this Volvo Ocean Race sleeping bag can be used equally well for sleeping on a pile of wet sails! It is large, rectangular and waterproof. All layers are independently removable for maximum flexibility.
Shape, Size and Construction: Large Rectangular shape with full-length 2-way separating zippers that allow the sleeping bag to open out flat to become a bunk blanket or just open at the foot to allow air to yor feet! This bag is designed for crew to get right down into, it has a fully close-able overlapping head and an elasticated drawstring to keep the flap in place. Its 2m length allow most crew to get right down inside.
Waterproof Breathable Outer Shell: Waterproof breathable 4oz Exeat fabric outer layer provides a tough and durable barrier to moisture. Treated with a breathable fluorocarbon coating and fully tape-sealed to prevent wicking through stitch holes. The VOR bag has a full length storm flap to prevent water ingress through the zip, velcro prevents water getting close.
Full-length Non-Lock zips: Large No10 coil zips for their strength and reliability, with non-lock zippers and layers designed to work together means rapid entry and exit, no tangled layers. The zips, protected by a storm flap on the outer shell, can be opened both top and bottom to let your feet breathe.
Outer Fibre-pile Insulation Layers: 2x layers of 10mm dense weave fibre-pile providing a luxurious feel while keeping an insulation layer of air next to the skin. Generous 10cm shoulder baffle to reduce heat loss.
Inner Microfleece Insulation: This is light and cosy for warmer climates. The layers are added to and stripped from the inside of the bags. Given the hot-cold-hot VOR route, the microfleece layer lies next to the outer shell.
While salt water environments are notoriously harsh a Volvo Ocean Race Sleeping Bag can be expected to have a very long life with some simple maintenance and care.
